Some of the online pics of the new items help you see them pretty well, and I was looking at the new clothes press. It show pictures of the girls standing inside if you choose the "larger picture" option. I have never seen the old press in person, but this one seems to be pretty nice. I imagine it's easier to hang Lissie's clothes than to fold them, and they come with a hanger anyway. I hope I can get this sometime down the road.

I don't understand why most people would want to store their dolls in the clothes press. The most "pressing" issue I have with AG is storing all the clothes, shoes and accessory sets neatly together for easy access. I wish the new clothes press "ad" would show pictures how the clothes, shoes, etc. can be stored in the clothes press.

Does anyone here plan on buying the new clothes press?

I ordered it and am awaiting delivery. I don't plan to show it to my daughters until Christmas, though, but I will post a review and check out how useful it is, if at all. I'm buying it for its display value, but if it ends up being useful, too, I will be very pleased.

This would be a good keepsake for DD. She actually needs the space to store at least one doll. One of her 3 dolls always ends up on the floor. I like the clothes press and can't wait until I can order it. I would store my doll clothes in it though. I need a place to store them and this is perfect. I am tired of hanging them in the closet! LOL I love the look of it too. I can't wait until someone posts pics to show how the clothes look in it!!!

The only issue I have with the new clothes press is that it's not historically accurate. The original one was.
I do think, though, it's more practical now. (What a great way to store the clothes.) And it's beautiful.

From what I've seen of the clothes press, there are three pegs that don't look deep enough to take very many hangers. I can see getting a few outfits in there but not very many. Without shelves or a rod, how is it supposed to work for clothes storage?

I have to say the old press with functional drawers and a shelf was better for clothes storage.
The new press seems better for doll storage, but do girls really stick their dolls into one of these to put them away? Mine always sat out on a shelf where I could see them.
The pegs don't seem like they would hold much, or the boxes.

My Grampa made me an American Girl Cupboard when I was little (he is dead now). There is a shelf at the top for the AG books I have. Under that are two doors that hold shut with magnets. When you open the doors, there is a place for an american girl to stand on the left, and place to hang dresses and outfits on the right. The section for dresses was larger than the doll section, but you can't tell until you open the doors because the doors are the same size. Under that is a drawer for shoes and accessories. I used to be able to fit all of my stuff into it. UNTIL I bought Josefina's piano and Addy's desk.
Now I have a lot more dolls, but it is still my primary storage unit. I liked having some place to put my doll where she wouldn't get dusty and her dresses wouldn't fade. It also made it more special somehow when I got her out to look at her. Now, I did display her on my Bureau for a while now and then, but I just thought it was kind of neat because Grampa designed this piece of furniture especially for the American Girl stuff, so it was perfect. I wonder if he wrote down the pattern anywhere. He made them for my other four sisters as well.
The only problem is that I have a closet full of american girl boxes that I am storing "just in case". . . . .
